Danish baroque breed from the 16th century. Color variation of the Fredriksborger breed, which was very famous at that time.
Medium-sized, highly intelligent, square horses.
The dappled horses experienced their zenith in the 17th and 18th centuries as princes' horses at the court. The rare "white-born", which are born white as the name indicates, were the preferred mounts of the Danish kings.

At the turn of the 19th century, the fame of the Fredriksborger breed began to wane as the horses lost their importance in warfare.

However, several noble stables remained faithful to this traditional Danish horse, among them that of the Knabstrup estate of Major Villas Lunn, which gave the breed its present name. These horses are recognized for their above-average intelligence and willingness to perform, toughness and individuality.
